ACR Replacement Antenna for Satellite 406 #9322
Model: 9322 Brand: Acr Electronics
The Satellite3 is ACRs entry level EPIRB. It utilizes the latest generation electronics package for faster, more stable 406MHz transmissions than older units. In an emergency, your registered, digitally coded distress message is broadcast via a powerful 6 watt signal. An integrated 121.5MHz homing signal then guides local Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel to your location. Although your emergency status is broadcast to authorities within seconds via high orbiting GEOSAR satellites, lacking a GPS sensor, you must wait for one of the 4 low orbiting LEOSAR satellites to be acquired in order to transmit data about your actual location. Worldwide, this takes an average of about 40 minutes - longer near the equator, shorter near the poles (usually). For a faster response, you can upgrade the Satellite3 to include GPS positioning by connecting it to your vessels GPS receiver with an optional GPS interface cable (sold separately). This allows the Satellite3 to continuously update and store precise position data. The ability to transmit GPS positioning data narrows the search radius from 2.3 nm down to 0.05 nm (~100 yds) and typically provides position notification to SAR in 23 minutes. #149; Category I Automatic model (#35;2874): activates and self-deploys if your vessel sinks; it can also be manually deployed. « less
