Shine Micro has been designing a wide variety of microprocessor-based electronics since 1980, with a focus on the marine VHF industry. At the emergence of AIS technology in 2001, Shine Micro quickly became established as an industry leader in ingenuity and innovation. The RadarPlus ® product line includes an AIS solution for everyone; from individual pleasure boaters to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Shine Micro is most recognized for the SM1610 Long Range AIS Receiver selected by the USCG for the Nationwide Automatic Identification System (NAIS) and the unique all-in-one Class B AIS transponder design of the SM162B.

Through company founder and President Mark Johnson, Shine Micro stays closely linked to the growth and development of the AIS industry and actively participates in both National and International standards committees such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and Radio Technical Commission for Maritime services (RTCM). Mr. Johnson is respected and sought after as a leading authority on AIS receivers for his work promoting the voluntary adoption of AIS and increasing the range and sensitivity of AIS reception. Shine Micro, Inc. successfully received ISO 9001:2008 Certification for its Quality Management System on November 09, 2010. Achieving this certification marked Shine Micro's first big step in plans to use continuous improvements to further refine and standardize the way it does business.
