UKHO To Hold Free ECDIS Seminars at Sea Asia 2015

|

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is holding a series of free ECDIS Seminars at the Sea Asia 2015 Conference and Exhibition, taking place in Singapore next week from 21 - 23 April.

To achieve SOLAS carriage requirements for the use of ECDIS as a primary means of navigation, a ship’s safety management system must include procedures for the operational use of ECDIS. The UKHO’s ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures Seminars will be led by Captain Paul Haywood, who is an internationally renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations.  They are designed to prepare all parties within the shipping industry with the essential information that they require to ensure the safe and effective implementation of ECDIS on board.

The UKHO’s seminars will be held every day in the UKHO Seminar Theatre - Basement 2/S29, Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands.   Each seminar will have a different main focus, as follows:

  • Tuesday 21 April, 1200 - 1345: Legal Requirements, Training & Familiarisation, Policy & Procedures
  • Wednesday 22 April, 1200 - 1345: Initial ECDIS Risk Assessment, Procurement, Installation and Onboard Maintenance, Chart Data Considerations
