Brochure Covers Electrical Solutions for Civil Infrastructure

|

Thomas & Betts (T&B)’s brochure, “Electrical Solutions for Civil Infrastructure,” outlines the company’s product solutions for builders and electrical systems installers of roads, bridges, railroad stations, air and marine terminals, and garages, among other structures.

The brochure is organized around product groupings that provide solutions to specific challenges encountered in civil infrastructure building and maintenance, such as sustainability, corrosion and harsh environment protection, grounding and bonding, safety, and cost reduction, among others. It also indicates which T&B product lines are designed to address each of these issues, as well as the services and training T&B offers to support many of these lines.

According to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), it will take an expenditure of $3.6 trillion by 2020 to restore the U.S. infrastructure. The percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) spent on capital infrastructure investment, however, has declined since the 1960s.

“According to the Congressional Budget Office, we currently spend only 2.4 percent of our GDP on civil infrastructure,” said Chad Smith, vice president, product management and engineering, at Thomas & Betts, “as opposed to the more than three percent that we spent 50 or 60 years ago. T&B’s product solutions enable those responsible for the construction and maintenance of the civil infrastructure to ensure reliable electrical systems while meeting tight budgets and deadlines, as well as complying with increasingly rigorous environmental and community requirements.”
